No Mess, No Grow Blend to Celebrate Our 140th Anniversary
To help celebrate our 140th anniversary, we have launched a limited edition No Mess, No Grow bird seed blend. The blend, which is our first no mess, no grow food, is nutritionally balanced and has been heat treated to ensure no seeds used in its production can germinate.
According to Maddy Johnston, our Marketing and Media Manager and fifth-generation member of the Johnston family, the new blend is also of the highest quality, matching that of our other products.
It contains similar levels of carbohydrates, proteins and fats as our other foods, making it suitable for all species of garden bird.
Maddy said: “There has been a lot of research and work gone into creating this blend. We know that people who care about the birds in their garden generally care about their garden as well, so don’t want seeds germinating in their well-looked after lawn. But they also want to feed the highest quality food available.
“So, we knew there was a gap in the market. Other no mess, no grow products do exist, but they tend to be lower quality and can turn into a thick porridge when it rains. Our intention was to create a truly exceptional no mess, no grow bird seed that equals the quality of the rest of our range, so people don’t have to compromise. We think we have achieved that.”
The food is packaged in retro-style brown paper bags which carry our new 140th anniversary logo and are easier to recycle than traditional plastic bags.
Further moves towards greener packaging are planned as the company looks to bolsters its environmental credentials.
Maddy added that 2020 was already shaping up to be a busy year for Johnston & Jeff as the company celebrates 140 successful years of business.
“Launching the no mess, no grow bird seed is just the start,” she said.
“We’re delighted with the product and the packaging and we think trade and retail customers will love it too.
“But we’ve got a lot of other initiatives going on throughout 2020 – new products, new packaging, new branding, and a whole range of different activities for people to get involved in.
“It’s an exciting time at Johnston & Jeff and we’re looking forward to sharing it with everyone.”
Johnston & Jeff’s new no mess, no grow wild bird seed will be available from March.
