We are seeking experienced Machine Operatives who are motivated, reliable and excited to join
the Johnston & Jeff team. We are looking for candidates who take pride in their work and have a

Job Summary

As a Machine Operative, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of
production machinery within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will work as part of
a production team to ensure products are manufactured to specification, production targets
are achieved and quality standards are maintained at all times.


The successful candidate will have previous machine operating experience and be comfortable
working with automated production equipment. A Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence is
desirable but not essential.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Follow Company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Operate, monitor and adjust production machinery to ensure efficient output.
  • Carry out machine set-ups and changeovers where required.
  • Monitor production processes and identify any issues affecting quality or productivity.
  • Measure, grade and feed raw materials into production machinery.
  • Ensure production targets are achieved in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Report machinery faults, breakdowns or maintenance requirements promptly.
  • Assist Site Engineers with planned preventative maintenance activities when required.
  • Accurately complete production records and associated documentation.
  • Ensure correct identification and application of packaging and labels.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping within production and warehouse areas.
  • Liaise effectively with colleagues, supervisors and other departments.
  • Comply with all health and safety standards, policies and procedures
  • Report any discrepancies, quality concerns or safety issues to the Supervisor or Manager.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous machine operating experience within a manufacturing or production environment (essential).
  • Experience working in a continuous process manufacturing environment.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Health and Safety knowledge and awareness.

Additional Requirements

This is a family business and consequently, you may be required to provide support in other
operational areas during periods of holiday cover, sickness absence or increased business
demand. Flexibility is therefore essential, and full training will be provided where necessary.
