There is so much information about everything to do with parrots and parakeets on the internet. As with many things on the internet, it can be hard to know which information is credible. Sorting through the mountain of information can be a little overwhelming, especially if you are new to parrots. We thought it would be useful if we linked you to some of our favourite parrot and parakeet sites, forums, and societies.
The Parrot Society UK aims to be the world’ premier association providing help and expert advice to members and non-members on the welfare and conservation of all parrot species.
UK Pet Food is the principal trade body representing the UK pet food industry. It has 84 member companies, which accounts for more than 90% of the UK market. It aims to be the credible voice of a responsible pet food industry.
This organisation is the umbrella organisation for all cage bird enthusiasts catering for the British, Budgerigar, Canary and Foreign Bird Fancies. Its prime objective is to promote the welfare, study, breeding, development and exhibition of birds within a managed environment.
One of the Foreign Bird League’s main objectives is to promote the keeping and breeding of all types of Foreign Birds while representing our interests to government, providing a larger, more influential, voice than individual birdkeepers and societies would have.
The society is concerned with all types of birds other than domesticated varieties. Members include most top aviculturalists, leading zoos, bird gardens, conservation groups and research institutes.
At Johnston & Jeff, we think it is important to support the wonderful work of parrot rescue and re-homing centres. That’s why we have put together this list of valued sanctuaries for you. This list is by no means extensive of all the wonderful charities out there, but these are a few that we have worked with and supported. (List in alphabetical order.)

Safehaven is a charity based in the UK, that has operated for 32 years. It focuses on the rescuing, rehabilitation and re-homing of parrots.
The Garden Sanctuary is a general animal shelter and has taken in more than 250 animals in need, including parrots and other aviary birds.
The Haven Parrot Rescue was formed in 2016 and is based in Tamworth, Staffordshire, and specialises in parrot rescue and rehoming.
